Coat Drive a Huge Success

The residents of the Greater Johnstown Region responded with a grand slam effort to the Mill Rats first annual coat drive to benefit the Greater Johnstown School District.

More than 500 coats were collected at the Mill Rats office in downtown Johnstown between December 4 and December 18. A large number of the coats were donated by the Catholic Charities of Johnstown who collected earlier this month but were unable to distribute due to COVID restrictions.

The residents of Graystone Court Villas in Richland also collected and donated more than 100 coats to the Mill Rats coat drive.

“We are very pleased that community stepped up to support this effort,” stated Brennan Mihalick, Mill Rats General Manager. “It’s very rewarding that we could facilitate helping people in need this winter.”

Everyone who donated a coat will receive four complimentary tickets to Opening Night – which will be the first ever game for the Mill Rats in Johnstown.

Staff and volunteers with the Greater Johnstown Elementary School will coordinate the distribution of the 500 plus coats to local families.
