Local Owners To Keep Mill Rats In Johnstown; Rex Promoted To General Manager

JOHNSTOWN,PA – At a press gathering held at Sargent’s Stadium at The Point, Bart Vickroy, one of 4 new owners of the Johnstown Mill Rats, announced the Mill Rats are here to stay in Johnstown, PA!

Vickroy, one of four new owners, told the crowd of media, fans, and city dignitaries, “My partners and I are pleased to share with you that the Johnstown Mil Rats will continue as a member of the Prospect League next season.”  He added, “This is a fully locally owned team now!”

Vickroy joins Alex Pozun, Chad Gontkovic, and Matthew Perry—all Johnstown natives—that comprise the new ownership group.  The foursome purchased the team from Bill Davidson, who brought the team to Johnstown in 2021.

Also announced during the event was the promotion of Sarah Rex to General Manager after serving as the team’s Assistant General Manager during the 2023 season.

Rex says she is excited by the promotion and went on to say, “I want to give so much credit to these guys and the work they’ve been putting in behind the scenes.  All the effort and the love that they have poured into this—their own time—to really save this team and come in when we needed them the most.”

Rex added there are several names in contention to be the Mill Rats’ new field manager.  Tyler Sullivan, the team’s coach from 2022-2023, departed following last season.  She also said, “We have players (from last season) who want to come back.  They were scared they were going to lose their home away from home.”

The Mill Rats will open their 4th season in the Prospect League in late May/early June.
