The Johnstown Mill Rats losing streak reached four games Thursday as they dropped a double-header against the Chillicothe Paints.
In game one, Chillicothe scored all the runs they needed to secure the victory by plating four runs in the bottom of the third to knock off the Mill Rats 4-0 in seven innings. Rats’ starter Mark Wechtenhiser fell to 0-3 with the loss. The Paints’ Matt Moscarino picked up the win to improve to 2-1. The shutout was the fourth against the Mill Rats this season.
In game two, Chillicothe exploded for six runs in the bottom of the first on their way to an 8-1 trouncing of the Mill Rats. Johnstown was outhit 10-2 with Brennan Seigler stroking both hits for Johnstown. The Mill Rats’ lone run came in the seventh when Seigler scored from third on a wild pitch.
Tom Ford (0-3) took the loss for Johnstown. The Paints’ Christian Pareja improved to 2-0.
The Mill Rats are now 20-16 overall and 3-7 in the second half.
Johnstown travels to Lafayette (IN) to play the Northeast Division-leading Aviators on Friday and Saturday.
