Lafayette reliever Corbin Payne collects eight of the 15 strikeouts from Johnstown hitters
as the Aviators defeat the Mill Rats 6-3.
Payne struck out six consecutive Mill Rats from the fourth to the sixth innings, allowing
no hits across his three innings of work.
The Mill Rats were held to just two-hits on Sunday afternoon, coming from left fielder
Austin Stalker and ninth-inning pinch hitter Peyton Starr.
Lafayette scored six runs on the afternoon, getting RBIs from left-fielder Frederick
Ragsdale III, right fielder Eli Hickman and first baseman Tucker Platt. Designated hitter Kolton
Schaller, catcher Blake Sailors and third baseman Josiah Miller scored runs for the Aviators to
aid the winning effort for Lafayette.
Johnstown found the scoreboard from multiple passed balls in the third, scoring center
fielder Colton Ayres and shortstop Parker Martin. Stalker would collect an RBI-single that would
bring the Mill Rats to their final total of three runs.
The loss is the second of the season for the Mill Rats, who drop to 4-2 on the season with
their first loss at home in Sargent’s Stadium. It was also the third consecutive game that the Mill
Rats scored three runs.
Johnstown takes the day off on Monday before beginning a six-game road trip, returning
home on June 13 to face the Cornbelters.
