The Johnstown Mill Rats losing streak hit six games last night as they fell to the Lafayette Aviators 14-3 in a seven-inning run-rule-shortened game at Loeb Stadium.

The Mill Rats took an early 1-0 lead in the first, but the Aviators would build a 14-1 lead through the first four innings.  Johnstown added a pair of runs in the fifth to set the final.

Johnstown was outhit by Lafayette 15-4.

Mill Rats’ starter John Hojnowski dropped to 4-3 over seven starts allowing eight runs on ten hits, walking one and striking out two.

Lafayette’s David Moore, pitching in his first start of the season, accumulated the win giving up just three runs on four hits while striking out three and walking two.

Lafayette improves on their Northeast Division-leading record and are now 9-4 in the second half; 24-14 overall.

The loss sends Johnstown to 3-9 in the second half (20-18) as the Rats remain in the Northeast Division cellar five-and-a-half games behind the Aviators.

The venue changes Tuesday as the Aviators will come to Sargent’s Stadium at The Point for a four-game set against the Mill Rats.
