The Cape Catfish sent 18 batters to the plate in the fifth inning and scored 14 runs with two out to pummel the Mill Rats 19-0 at Sargent’s Stadium at The Point.
The loss was the worst for the Mill Rats since a 10-0 drubbing at Alton on June 19.
The 19 runs scored by the Catfish are the most against the Mill Rats this season. Previously, Johnstown lost 16-5 to Alton on July 2.
Johnstown managed only one hit through the first seven innings of the run-rule shortened game and finished the night with just two hits total.
The Mill Rats, and the rest of the Prospect League, will now have four days off for the All-Star break. Johnstown will travel to Chillicothe for a double-header with the Paints on Thursday, July 10 when the regular season continues.
